Not Quite Write is on the lookout for a talented digital artist to fill the position of the 2026 Not Quite Write Artist-in-Residence.
This virtual residency is a paid opportunity, and calls for an artist to contribute to our quarterly writing competition, the Not Quite Write Prize for Flash Fiction by creating an artwork showcasing each round’s writing prompts. (Previous prompt images created by our 2025 Artist-in-Residence, Camsyn Clair are shown above.)
We want to continue the highly vibrant, colourful vibe found on our website and across our social media, but we’d love you to bring YOUR unique style to the task.
How the gig works
We’ll brief the chosen artist in advance of each round, providing a rough concept of the image we’d like to see, with a 2-week turnaround for final art.
Our Artist-in-Residence will need to maintain strict confidentiality regarding the brief and their artwork until each competition begins. Due to their insider knowledge, they will be unable to compete in the writing competition.
How to apply
We’re open to applications from professional and amateur artists (A.I. prompters need not apply!) Where applications are judged to be of similar quality, Not Quite Write will favour Australian applicants.
For more information and to apply, download and complete the Expression of Interest form [PDF].
We invite you to share this opportunity with anyone you believe would be interested.
